Sandcastle Contest

Today was Carmel’s annual sandcastle contest. The theme was “Dog House, Doll House.” The sandcastles themselves (ours included) were not as exciting as the beautiful weather, the great company, and the people/dog-watching.  The cute girl and her daughter are Kari and Cora. The other duo is Seth and his boy Quinn, from a totally unrelated, yet equally cute family.

Bobbing Apples

I guess this year we are all about the backyard produce. Yesterday I came outside to find that my husband had filled our son’s kiddie pool with apples from the somewhat neglected tree at the edge of our yard. The deer usually manage to eat all the tiny apples before they ripen enough for humans to enjoy. (One night I walked into the yard at the wrong moment and almost got hit by a deer as he bolted away from the tree! Yes, I said, I almost got hit by the deer, not the other way around. It was serious. He was three-times my size, with antlers, and he suddenly wanted out of that yard more than anything. Talk about wildlife taking your breath away!) This year the apples were eaten only by worms, but still greatly enjoyed by humans. (One in particular.) Of course, I ran to get the camera.

Lucas and Bella

There will be more to come later from this little brother, big sister photo session. Here are just a few shots that I thought lent themselves especially well to black and white.

Scenes From a Bistro

I’ve had a lot of fun lately taking photos at a wonderful restaurant in Carmel called Bistro 211. The chef, owner, and very cool guy, Jon Magnusson often hosts top-notch musical guests at his restaurant so you get to eat delicious food and listen to beautiful music at the same time. Thank you to the friendly staff, musicians, and patrons who were so patient with my presence! Below are just a few of my favorite photos from several different sessions. The guitarists are Storm Nilson and Renzo Staiano and you can visit their websites here www.stormnilson.com and here www.staianomusic.com. I will update this post later with information about the beautiful cellist and harpist. You can visit the website for more information about Bistro 211 here www.bistro2111.com.
